The Government of Andhra Pradesh has ordered the suspension of nine teachers for meeting YS Jagan during his praja Sankalpa Yatra. These teachers are from Anandapuram, Bhimili and Anantagiri mandals of Visakhapatnam district and they went to meet Jagan in Vizianagaram on Sunday. They went to thank Jagan for announcing that he would remove the Contributory Pension Scheme if he came to power.
The TDP government took a serious view of this and suspended them on charges of raising slogans saying that Jagan should become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Vizag district education officer Lingeswar Reddy said that action was initiated against the teachers for violating service rules.
The suspended teachers have decried the suspension and said that no action was taken against NGOs association leader Ashok Babu, when he supported the TDP and opposed the Congress, which was ruling then. They demanded the lifting of the suspension, failing which they said they would intensify the agitation.
